My wife and I moved to Southlake (Timmaron) in November of 2016 and a few months after we moved a hailstorm hit. Unfortunately, being very new to the area, we did not really know who to call and saw a truck in our neighborhood for a roofing company. I wish I could say the truck belonged to Griffith but it did not. Going against our experience and better judgement we did not do as much research and validation on this local roofing company as we should have and ultimately it cost us a lot of time, headaches and stress. Our roof was replaced in April, 2017 for a claim amount just under $40K. It is important to note that we used Owens Corning class 4 shingles.
Instead of going into all the details and issues that occurred with this poorly installed roof, I will just list at a very high level:
- Wrong shingles were delivered and we had to point it out before they started
- They tried to put new shingles over rotten wood vs. replacing it but we caught them
- Did not address flashing along with a hole in the roof ultimately resulting in water damage to our garage and dining room walls that due to the humidity of the summer quickly turned into mold
- Several third parties cited poor installation
- The owner was argumentative and would not accept fault even when his own QA and sales person recognized fault.
Due to the fact the owner would not accept responsibility, we had to file a subjugation claim which was a new deductible I had to pay and will increase my annual premiums. In parallel to the months-long back and forth with this other local roofing company, we worked directly with Owens Corning, who sent several independent inspectors to our property. We can’t say enough about Owens Corning; instead of skirting blame they recognized that we did not get what we paid for and stepped up to the plate to pay for another roof. At this point, we invested a lot of time speaking with members of the community and everyone universally said the same thing over and over: “Contact Mark Griffith and Robby Duncan!”
We contacted them and explained our trials and tribulations and both did not hesitate to personally meet with us at our home to discuss the bad experience and our fear of having the same thing happen again. Both men showed sincere concern for what our family had gone through and the fact that another local firm would not have done the right things to make it right. Moreover, Owen’s Corning was having Griffith Roofing pick up the shingles directly from the distribution center so the reality is this was going to cut into their profit margin. However, Mark and Robby said that were so bothered by what we had gone through they only cared about taking care of our family and a fellow Dragon family. Mr. Griffith personally got involved to change the schedule to ensure our family’s project was first, given concern we all had about the quality of the roof, and within two business days of starting and putting his most experienced crews on, we had a roof that finally our family could feel safe and good about. I can’t say enough about the reputation of Owen’s Corning stepping up and investing a large amount to remedy a bad situation/installation as well as Griffith roofing for caring and sympathizing so much so that everyone we interacted with went out of their way to inspect, explain and nurture the entire process. If you are truly looking for the best in the Southlake and surrounding areas, then do not hesitate to contact Griffith roofing. I will never stop advocating for them as individuals and for the company.
Thanks so much Griffith for bringing a positive end to a terrible experience.
